The Bridge River is the water supply for a large hydroelectric complex in British Columbia, Canada. We are privileged in being selected to build statistical and hydrodynamic models of reservoir limnology and biological production in river reaches. Output supports planning many water uses driven by power production and First Nations values.

The Bridge system is a beautifully complex system of glaciation, naturally turbid river reaches, salmon populations, and crazy rugged mountains and valleys most of which is remote and not easily accessible. It has been home to St'at'imc communities for thousands of years. The system was also discovered for hydroelectric development in the 1950's and 1960's. Dams  were built, changing flow patterns and modifying use of the river by First Nations based on salmon runs.  Now it is really complex and ripe for modeling to help make water use decisions

Working with St'at'imc crews we are engaged in many amazing years of design, limnology field studies, river food web study, modeling and decision support. Such different points of view among all peoples who value the Bridge River adds an element of drama. Such is the wonderful complexity of integrating natural processes with the built environment with original peoples values and modern power needs. Amazing place. Amazing people.
